KRISTY KARAN
Assigned Drawing
Each week we were assigned drawing projects to complete. I tried to explore all sorts of media when doing each weeks drawing projects
Week 1 Drawing
Objective: draw at least six drawings from direct observation (real things only). Three of these objects should be man-made/mechanical objects (staplers, wrenches, pliers, scissors, etc.). The other three should be organic/natural objects (fruit, veggies, trees plants, rocks, bones, etc.).
Refection: I choose items that were around the house. Simple items that I felt were interesting enough to draw. I tried to focus on the shape, texture, and shadow effects that I could create

Week 2 Drawing
Objective: animate each of the six objects that you drew last week. This is your opportunity to be highly creative and imaginative by giving each of the objects “life”. This does not necessarily mean to simply add legs and arms, but instead “distort” the original drawing in a way that it now looks like it could move about, or is alive. This may include arms and legs, etc. but that should not be the main aspect. (a classic animation technique, called squash and stretch is an example of doing this which you might employ this week.) Exaggeration is key to this working. The objective is to try and illustrate something in motion—the act of moving (running, skipping, jumping, crawling, etc.) This is different from simply showing how something might move (with attached wheels, propeller, legs, etc.) Think attitude.
Refection: The items that I choose to draw in last weeks assignments, here I decide to continue with the same medium originally used to create movement in the images.

Week 3 Drawings
Objective: focus on one object only. A different object from any you have previously worked with. It must be something mechanical (not digital). It also must be a mechanical object that you can “take the cover off” to see how it works, the gears, the springs, the moving parts, etc. Draw these inner workings 6 different times. (examples; inside of a clock, bicycle gears, engine, motor, conveyor belt, etc.) Focus on a detailed, realistic representation of how these parts interact or connect with one another.
Refection: I was trying to create realism through shading. Usually I will not use pencil as my go to for shading, however I felt it was easier for me to accomplish this method through other media i have used to create the same texture. Last 2 images I ran out of time so did not get a chance to add in the shading, however; i like to show the difference her when you take time and shade through verses just drawing simple outline of an image. It visually gives a different emotion to the drawing.

Week Four Drawings
Objective: focus on one object. A different object from any you have previously worked with. It must be something organic (not man-made). Objects with 3D form (examples; bones, vegetables, fruits, branches, roots, not flowers, etc.) Concentrate on shading. Make it look real.
Refection: Here I tried to focus on one fruit at a time. I choose to use water color here so I can give the effects of how the fruits colors bleed into one another. I was able to create the look of realism through the shading.

Week Five Drawings
Objective: draw at least six drawings from direct observation (real things only) that you pass by each day on your way from home to class. These should be things that you normally don’t notice yet you pass by them each day without seeing them. If these objects cannot be moved from their location, plan your time accordingly so that you can spend sufficient time to slowly and carefully examine every inch of their surface. Your goal is to accurately capture a likeness of each object.
Refection: These are locations that I pass by on a daily biases. I choose these locations because of the visual structure of balance each location had. I enjoyed painting the lengthy and tall structures that had so much detail and symmetry even down to the placement of each brick on the structure.

Week Six Drawings
Objective: draw at least six hands in different positions, from direct observation Your goal is to accurately capture the “life” of each hand.
Refection: Here I wanted to show movement and flow through the fingers and in the wrist. I started with a cube drawing and continued the hand gesture from there.

Week Seven Drawing
Objective: draw at least six eyes in different positions, from direct observation Your goal is to accurately capture the “life” of each eye.
Refection: This drawing I used Procreate app. Just like the previous drawing I wanted to create movement in the eyes as well. Eyes are looking in different locations to show movement.

Week Eight Drawing
Objective: draw at least six noses in different positions, from direct observation Your goal is to accurately capture the “life” of each nose.
Refection: To me when drawing these noses it was vey difficult to show movement due to the simplicity of the shape of a nose. SO i tried to draw up facing noses, side facing, down facing and froward facing.

Week Nine Drawing
Objective: draw at least six heads/faces in different positions, from direct observation Your goal is to accurately capture the “life” of each heads/faces.
Refection: Faces were extremally fun to create here. I enjoyed especially when creating the texture of the hair. I love doing fine detailed work and that was probably why I enjoyed this so much. I wanted to get various facial expressions as well as positions of the face.
